The Olympics are currently being held in Vancouver Canada, and will be held in Sochi Russia next year. The Olympic locations are chosen by a committee, and the locations that want to do the Olympics will bid a certain amount of money to this committee. The committee then decides which locations bid is the best, and which location they feel is the best.

Told you I knew all of this, and hopefully you’ve learned interesting facts about the Olympics by reading my blog. If you have any more questions about the Olympics, please ask them by leaving them in the comment box. :-)

Brett Favre

Posted on February 17, 2010 in Soccer Blogs by booreid54

Brett Favre is a 222 pound football player, who is 40 years of age. He was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on October 10, 1969. He went to Southern Mississippi College, and is now playing his 19th season. Brett Favre loves the game of football so much, that he doesn’t even care of his age. As you probably know, Brett Favre played for the Green Bay Packers last year, but this year he was moved to the Vikings, because he kept changing his mind on whether or not he wanted to play. By the time he was done deciding, the Packers had already hired a new Q.B..

Brett Favre has been doing great job since he left the Packers. They were one game away from being in the Superbowl. His records a great, and most sites say that he’s planning on coming back again next year.

Colts vs Saints

Posted on February 12, 2010 in Soccer Blogs by booreid54

The Superbowl was played at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens Florida, on February 7, 2010. It was the very first time the Saints had gone to the Superbowl but the fourth time for the Colts, and all four games have been played in Miami. The Saints were holding a record of 13-3, while the Colts had a record of 14-2. It looked like the Saints had the bad end of the stick, but really, they ended on the best stick possible. A defeat against the Colts. The ending score was 31-17, New Orleans Saints winning. Although the Colts started off looking good, they ended bad. They probably thought they were going to win for sure, and so they stopped trying. All I have to say is, “Better luck next time Colts.”

Is running considered a sport?

Posted on January 22, 2010 in Soccer Blogs by booreid54

Although it isn’t a game like basketball, soccer, hockey, football, baseball, etc., it can be.  How? Well, there are different types of running that are considered games, like track and marathon, which both happen to be held in the Olympics. Some other sports are cross country running, road racing, or just jogging in your neighborhood. Running is a bunch of different activities that fall under the category racing. Then yes, to answer your question, running is considered a sport. It’s just a sport that’s performed a bit differently. All of these different types of running are considered sports, but some are just more formal than others.

Who invented cheerleading and what is cheerleading?

Posted on January 7, 2010 in Soccer Blogs by booreid54

Have you ever wondered who invented cheerleading. Well, I know I have, so I did a little research, and found out that cheerleading was invented in 1898 by Johnny Campbell, an undergraduate of University of Minnesota. He stood in front of the crowd at a football game and lead the crowd in a chant, that happens to be a very famous chant still used today. “Rah, Rah, Rah! Sku-u-mar, Hoo-Rah! Hoo-Rah! Varsity! Varsity! Varsity, Minn-e-So-Tah!” And after that cheerleading began officialy on November 2, 1898.

Now that you know who invented this fun, energetic sport, you may want me to actually tell you what you do when participating in this sport. Cheerleading is a sport using organized routines that usually range from 1-3 minutes long. The cheers consist of dance, tumbling, jumps, cheering, and stunting to direct spectators attention towards cheering on there favorite sports team, at games, matches, etc.. Cheerleaders help draw attention towards the event,  they also help to encourage the players, and get the audience participating in the action. Without cheerleading, sports wouldn’t be the same. Cheering helps get players pumped up, and it’s a great way to keeps a crowds interest.

How to play BASKETBALL!!!

Posted on January 5, 2010 in Soccer Blogs by booreid54

The game of basketball doesn’t require much equipment to play. All you need is two hoops that are both set at the height of ten, a basketball, and I guess if you want to count the court as a piece of equipment. Then, you set up teams. The object of this game is pretty obvious, to score baskets on the goal that you are NOT defending. For most games (or at least the very famous games like in the NBA) you play four quarters total, 15 minutes in each quarter, and 60 minutes total. Lengths of games can vary based on tournaments, places, organizations, etc.. As for players you always have five players on the court, and usually you have some players on the bench.

As you can see, basketball isn’t that hard of a sport to learn and play. I hope you learned alot about basketball, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask them in a comment.

Sports Introduction (Soccer)

Soccer

I am going to begin writing blogs about sports and so I am going to began by telling you a bit about soccer to start off.I will also be informing you on any sport you would like to hear about, so, if you have any suggestions or questions, just put them in the comment box for me and I will look at what you commented. Something I might want to inform you about first, a1re two of the biggest soccer stars of our time, David Beckham and Mia Hamm. Both of the players I had mentioned, are very successful in their soccer careers, and have always been improtant to the world of soccer.

Mia Hamm was born on March 17, 1972, in Selma Alabama, and over the years had moved to California, Texas, Virginia, and Italy. The reason she moved around alot, was because of her dad’s job. He worked as a U.S. Air Force Pilot. Although, one of the many reasons Mia found an interest in soccer, is because her dad moved. One day Mia was walking back to her house, when she saw some kids playing soccer in the street. She started walking over to them to play, but her mother stopped her, because she thought it was too dangerous. That was before she knew Mia would move on to be one of the best Woman’s soccer players in the world.

David Beckham on the other hand, was born on May 2, 1975 in Leytonstone, London, England. David Beckham currently plays as the midfielder for the America Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy an the England National team. David Beckham has also achieved being the runner up for the FIFA World Player of the Year twice  in a row.

The two paragraphs above explain why David Beckham and Mia Hamm are important to the world of soccer. They are two very talented soccer players who have accomplished many things in their life. That’s why they are important people to talk about when it comes down to soccer. I will also be telling you about other things when you come to visit my blog. Now, I am the official place to come, when you want to know anything about soccer.
